Why this blog

We created this blog because we wanted to understand how we got here and how to make sure the progress continues.

We want to understand:

1. How do you industrialize a (third world) country and how did it happen in the past? Of what it means for a country to have industrial autarky. And use the knowledge gained from it to understand how to industrialize India?
2. What would it take to compactify earth’s industrial stack and replicate it on mars such that we can have industrial autarky and a self sustaining civilization there? And how do it relatively fast rather than it taking centuries.

And are why connecting these two things?

We think we’re at a time and place where India is starting to industrialize and humanity as a whole has mars industrialisation has a future milestone. We think the lessons learnt from working on this direction in India can be helpful and keeping the bigger goal of mars in mind would force us to think of new and original ways of industrialisation rather than copying what other countries did in the past. Of course we know that industrializing china and mars is very different.

Also, part of our reason to want to work on these things is because we feel a sense of urgency. This life that we have so used to gotten living and taking for granted is not the default state our of species because never has been. Certainly something worked quite remarkably in these past 100-150 years and we want to understand why it happened and how to make sure it continues.
